#4 Omega Constellation

Omega Constellation watches are some of the Best known and most iconic watches in the world.

They’ve been around for over 60 years, and their timeless design has made them a favorite among watch enthusiasts.

There are several different versions of the Omega Constellation, but they all share some common design features. The most notable feature is the star-shaped logo on the dial, which has become a hallmark of this line of watches.

Unlike previous Omega men’s watch models, the Omega constellation could be considered a DRESS watch, as a result of its elegant and simple design. It’s available in men’s and women’s versions, and its simple yet sophisticated styling makes it a popular choice for those who want a more formal-looking watch.

The history of the constellation Omega

omega constellation original

The Omega Constellation is a men’s watch that has been in production since 1952. It is one of the most popular watches ever made by Omega, and many different designs and styles have been created over the years.

The original Omega Constellation was introduced in 1952 and was available in Gold and stainless steel versions. The clock had asimple design with round case and no crown protector. It was powered by the Caliber 32 movement, which was based on the hand-wound movement used in earlier models like the Seamaster.

The original Constellation had two subdials on its face – one for hours and minutes, and one for seconds – as well as a date window at 6 o’clock. The dial was White or Black with gold-plated hands and hour markers.

The first generation of Omega Constellations was discontinued in 1962 when they were replaced by the second generation models.

second gen omega constellation

The second generation of Omega Constellations was introduced in 1962 and featured a more modern design. The case was now flat with a bezel that had raised ridges, known as “teakwood” bezel.

There were also two different crowns on the watch – one to set the time and one to wind the movement. The dial layout was similar to the first generation, but the sub-dials were now placed in different positions.

The second generation Constellation was powered by a New automatic movement, Caliber 100x, which was based on previous hand-wound movements. Once again, Omega turned things around and released the third generation of this model (which is what we know as the Omega Constellation today).

Today the Omega Constellation is one of the most popular watches in production and there are many different designs and styles to choose from. The Globemaster model is a variation on the Constellation that was introduced in 2015. It features a unique “fluted” bezel and a dial that pays homage to the original 1952 Constellation.

#5 Omega Marine

omega marine

The Omega Marine is not one of the mosts acquaintances of Omega. However, in my opinion, it is one of the Best designs they have produced.

Unlike any other watch they produce, the Marine design features a rectangular rather than circular casing. This makes it very reminiscent of the Cartier Tank – one of the Best known DRESS watches in the world (famously worn by Princess Diana).

That being said, the Omega Marine is by no means a women’s watch. Thanks to its design innovations and rugged finish, this watch boasts a very masculine aesthetic that is sure to turn heads and make you stand out from the crowd.

It’s a shame that Omega no longer produces them!

The history of the Omega Marine

The Omega Marine Watch was a men’s watch designed for professional divers in 1932. This watch is believed to be the first watch designed specifically for divers.

Although Rolex had already patented and produced the world’s first waterproof watch (The Rolex Oyster) 10 years earlier, Omega was determined to create a unique and thoroughly tested timepiece that would not infringe copyrights already claimed by its competitor.

omega marine sliding case

Thus, the sliding case of the Omega watch was invented. In Short, they encased a rectangular watch case within a protective outer shell that allowed for greater water resistance thanks to a cork-sealed design.

As such, while Rolex is famous for creating the first waterproof watch, Omega went further by creating the firstdiving watchwhich could not only resist water damage but also withstand higher pressures when plunged into the depths. In 1941, this bad boy was tested under scientific conditions at the Swiss Laboratory ofClockworkand was able to maintain its waterproofing to 135 meters! An impressive feat for the time period, to say the least!

Unfortunately, the Omega Marine is not available today. Over the years it has been released to the public in limited edition runs, so you may be able to find one second hand if you search hard enough.
